Rocketry Project Structure
At Void Voyagers, we’re pushing to find ways to integrate fun into learning, while also providing opportunities for students to get more involved with colleges and funding.
The plan:
We intend to create large projects that are broken down into individual lessons, this first large goal will be focused primarily around rocketry, and projects will focus on the electrical engineering projects within a rocket.
Our smart rocket goal will contain 6 submodules:
Control module
The main module that will provide telemetry, fin control, launch verification, motor ignition, and chute deployment.
Chute module
An electromechanical system to force separation of the nose cone and rocket body. This is typically done with a charge on the motor.
Fin module
An electromechanical system that will receive signals from the control module in order to steer or stabilize the rocket.
Launch module
A purely electrical module to initiate, ignite, and if necessary abort a launch.
Data module
A standalone module focused on additional data such as pressures, velocity, altitude and optional video. This module collects data and contains sensors that the control module does not.
Telemetry module(optional)
The telemetry module will be the heart of communicating with a ground station and launch approval systems.
